Transporting Abnormal Loads for BAE Systems
Transporting Abnormal Loads for BAE Systems
The Challenge
Joda Freight was tasked with a highly complex and prestigious logistics project on behalf of NG Bailey, for their customer, BAE Systems, in Barrow-in-Furness.
The primary challenge was transporting a 5-metre-wide abnormal load – significantly larger than typical loads, requiring specialised handling to ensure the safety and timely delivery of the cargo.
The complexity of the route and the size of the load also necessitated additional resources, including escort vehicles and a police escort, to navigate safely through public roads.
The Solution
To address these challenges, we leveraged the expertise of our highly skilled drivers, who are experienced in managing oversized loads.
The team coordinated closely with NG Bailey and BAE Systems to ensure all logistical aspects were planned in advance. Escort vehicles were deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety along the route, while a police escort provided additional security and clearance for the transportation.
Our expert attention to detail and thorough coordination made sure we could provide a smooth and efficient delivery process.
The Results
The project was successfully completed, with the load delivered safely and on time to BAE Systems.
Despite the challenge of this logistics project, we were able to flex our expertise in handling the complexities of transporting an oversized load with this project!
It was only made possible thanks to the collaboration of NG Bailey and the local authorities that ensured the entire process was seamless with us.
Knowing how important this delivery was to our client, we’re very proud to contribute to the successful logistical moves involved in this project, solidifying our reputation as a trusted and professional team for complex projects.
