Conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks for a cause close to our hearts
Kieron Talbot-Sykes, 30 October 2025
Earlier this month, the Joda Freight team swapped desks for boots and backpacks as we took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, all for a brilliant cause – our charity partner, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
Early starts for a long day ahead
On the 2nd October, a team of 12 from across our business came together bright and early for the challenge, setting off from our Head Office in Keighley, at 5:30am with the mix of excitement, caffeine, and plenty of team spirit. Our team truly represented the breadth of the business: Kieron Talbot-Sykes (Operations Director), Gemma Tomlin (Finance Manager) accompanied by Graham Tomlin, Josie Woodrup (Purchase Ledger), Mark Singleton (Operations Manager), Ashley Thornton (Planner), Austin Parker (Compliance Manager), Rhys Watson (Workshop Manager), Dom Wilson (Mechanic), Tim Smart (Driver), Rob Sweeney (Driver) and Ravdeep Singh (Driver). By 6:20am our team were on the trail, ready to tackle three of Yorkshire’s most iconic peaks.
The first peak was filled with energy as everyone powered through the early miles, making the most of their fresh legs and the clear skies. As the day went on, the challenge became tougher, with aching legs, blisters and the unpredictable Yorkshire weather, keeping us on our toes. We endured sunshine, showers, and thick fog making sure that we got the full Three Peaks experience
Throughout the day, our support team were never far away, keeping us fuelled with food, drinks and words of encouragement. For most of the team, this was their first time taking on the Yorkshire Three peaks, making the achievement even more impressive – with only Kieron and Austin having conquered the challenge before. At 5pm, we crossed the finish line, after 10 hours and 40 minutes of walking – tired, muddy and ready to celebrate together with refreshments at one of the local pubs.
Fundraising for a vital cause
Most importantly, our efforts helped raise an incredible £2,955 for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, a charity that provides vital care and support for children with life shortening conditions, and their families.
The day was about more than just conquering the peaks; it was a reminder of the strength of our team and the importance of giving back to our community.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part, and grateful to everyone who donated and cheered us on!
